Seit 1999 gibt es unter der Schirmherrschaft von „Humanitäre Hilfe für den Osten e.V.“ die Initiative „Hören ohne Grenzen“, die regelmäßige Hilfstouren nach Luzk in der Ukraine durchführt. Der letzte Projektbesuch über sieben Tage fand im März/April 2019 statt. Mit dabei waren Gunnar Janssen (Techniker aus Oldenburg), Nicole Kühling (Hörakustikerin aus Vechta), Daniela Schafmeier (Hörakustikerin aus Rahden), Kerstin Janssen (Erzieherin aus Oldenburg), Nazan Yakar (Hörakustikerin aus Mannheim) und Paula Hunstein (Hörakustikerin aus Weinstadt bei Stuttgart).

Im Juni 2019 wurden Miersch und Kühling Hörgeräte, hören² und Hörerlebnis Schafmeier für „Hören ohne Grenzen“ mit dem Future Hearing Award 2019 ausgezaeichnet. Der Preis wird jährlich an Hörakustiker verliehen, die einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Zukunft der Hörakustikbranche leisten. Das Gemeinschaftsprojekt überzeugte die hochkarätige Expertenjury und sicherte ihnen den Award in der Kategorie Soziales Engagement.
